The Peppucci Winery is located near the city of Todi, on a hill 450 meters above sea level. At the heart of the estate stands the former Benedictine monastery of Sant'Antimo, dating back to the early 13th century, one of Umbria's most interesting medieval relics. Owned by the Peppucci family since the late 1980s, it was only in 2000 that the family, reconnecting with their local roots, decided to embark on their greatest adventure yet, planting vineyards. On their land, particularly suited for its composition, position, and exposure, the winery has planted 13 hectares of new vineyards with vines of Grechetto di Todi, Sagrantino, Sangiovese, and Colorino, as well as international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The vineyards exhibit modern characteristics, both in terms of the planting pattern, characterized by high row density, and the training system—bilateral spurred cordon—particularly suited to producing high-quality wines. The winery's production philosophy is based on the pursuit of quality, pursued through low yields per hectare, separate harvests of the grapes to achieve the best possible ripeness, and hand-picking in crates to select only the finest bunches. The goal of Cantina Peppucci is to produce wines that are a true expression of the terroir.
