Description

The "Cuvée Brut" sparkling wine, produced by Terrazze dell'Etna, is a Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs of remarkable finesse and elegance. This Champagne grape variety has proven to be well-suited to the soil and climate conditions of Mongibello, which allow for excellent ripening of the grapes with refined aromatic profiles. The long aging on the lees allows the wine to develop mature notes, complementing the varietal character of the grape. It is a particularly suitable sparkling wine as an aperitif or with seafood appetizers.

The Metodo Classico “Cuvée Brut” is produced by Terrazze dell'Etna, which manages a charming estate. The vineyards are cultivated on the slopes of the volcano, on terraces supported by dry stone walls, in an environment characterized by great biodiversity, with chestnut groves and Mediterranean scrub. The Chardonnay vineyards are located in the municipality of Randazzo, on the northwest slope of Etna, at an altitude between 750 and 950 meters above sea level. The vines are approximately 20 years old and are grown on poor, stony volcanic soil, resulting from the disintegration of ancient lava flows. The cool climate and significant temperature variations allow for highly fragrant grapes with intense aromas. Harvest takes place at the end of August, and the bunches are gently pressed. The must is fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Classic Method, with aging on the lees for at least 36 months and manual disgorgement.

The “Cuvée Brut” is a Classic Method sparkling wine from Terrazze dell'Etna that blends the typical varietal notes of Chardonnay with the typical characteristics of the volcanic terroir, in particular freshness, minerality and flavour.

Tasting notes

Straw yellow with greenish-gold highlights. Intense and well-structured, with a fine and persistent perlage, it offers sweet, ripe tones and a flint minerality. The foam is creamy, and its freshness is a guarantee of a long and successful aging on the lees.
Classic Method 36 months on the lees, produced with pupitre, hand disgorgement.

Cellar

The amphitheater of terraces embraces Etna's native grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante, as well as other international varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Petit Verdot.

Nerello Mascalese is the company's flagship grape, a common thread that ties the entire production together.

The ancient saplings, over 60 years old, give life to Cirneco: Etna Rosso, whose name is a tribute to the volcano's native hunting dog, which possesses the same characteristics as the wine in terms of elegance and strength.

The youngest vines produce Carusu, a young Etna DOC that retraces the history of Etna's red wines in a modern key, the Rosato Etna DOC with rosy hues, and finally Ciuri, an elegant and unique wine made from Nerello Mascalese vinified as a white wine.

The Carricante vineyards produce Cinniri, a Bianco Etna DOC that, as its name suggests, brings the typical flavors of the volcano to the glass.
