Wilson & Morgan's Linkwood 2014 Oloroso Finish is a Speyside single malt that showcases the classic elegance of the Linkwood distillery, enhanced by extended maturation in first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks. This bottling is designed for those who appreciate complex whiskies with a distinct personality and a balance of fruity sweetness, vinous structure, and oakiness.
Distilled in 2014 at Linkwood Distillery, located in the green hills of Elgin, in the heart of Speyside, this whisky has the distillery's typical style: silky, aromatic, floral and with a natural roundness that lends itself particularly well to ageing in sherry casks.
Wilson & Morgan, an independent bottler recognized for its curated and artisanal selections, has chosen to mature this whisky for almost 3 years (34 months) in 1st fill ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, with the aim of amplifying its richness without overpowering its original elegance.
Characteristics of aging
The first part of maturation takes place in refill ex-bourbon barrels, which preserve the spirit's fruity smoothness. The whisky is then transferred to Oloroso butts, large Spanish oak barrels that provide:
notes of dried fruit and fruit in alcohol
shades of dark honey and caramel
elegant tannins
a vinous and slightly astringent touch
This type of refinement is particularly suitable for a distillate like Linkwood, naturally creamy and floral, because it does not weigh down but adds complexity.

The color is a dark amber gold, with copper highlights indicating the strong influence of the sherry cask. The brightness is typical of less-excessively filtered whiskies, with a visual density evident in the drop that forms in the glass.
