The Aosta Valley region is characterized by its fragmented plots. The vineyards cover modest areas, ranging from 300 to 400 square meters, for a total of approximately 500 hectares, with a total production of nearly 2 million bottles. A single valley and a single DOC unite seven winemaking zones, divided into lower, middle, and upper valleys. These small-scale productions produce wines that have seen significant qualitative growth over the last 30 years, earning numerous awards from industry guides and magazines. Many grape varieties are recognized as suitable for cultivation, including international varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Among the native varieties, Prié Blanc and Petit Rouge are particularly popular.
