Distilleria Caffo's signature product is Vecchio Amaro del Capo, a Calabrian herbal liqueur made from an ancient Calabrian recipe, subsequently reworked and improved by the experience acquired by four generations of the Caffo family. Vecchio Amaro del Capo encompasses the active ingredients of many beneficial herbs, flowers, fruits, and roots from the generous Calabrian soil, infused in the finest alcohol to aid digestion and provide a pleasant feeling of well-being. Among the 29 medicinal herbs that make up the infusion, we highlight some widely used in Calabria, such as bitter orange, sweet orange, licorice, mandarin, chamomile, and juniper, for their tonic and digestive properties. Its delicate, aromatic flavor is well-suited even to the most delicate palates, unfamiliar with "Amarissimi," and remember that, in keeping with the best Calabrian tradition, it should be drunk chilled (at -20°C in the characteristic Capo glasses) to enhance the characteristics of the unique herbs it contains. Vecchio Amaro del Capo is now among the most popular and best-selling bitters in Italy, boasting the distinction of being the first bitter to be offered chilled, according to the company's slogans, which began in the 1970s when it was primarily consumed in the summer and was distributed only in Calabria. In 2010, Vecchio Amaro del Capo was the only Italian bitter to win a gold medal at the world competition in Brussels.
