Description

Jacquesson's "Cuvée 740 Dégorgement Tardif" is an Extra Brut that expresses all the refined elegance of a Champagne aged on the lees for a full 88 months. It is a small portion of Cuvée 740, which is bottled with a cork stopper and subjected to a long period of aging, which yields complex, evolved, and intense aromas. A Champagne with a unique charm, representing one of the pinnacles of excellence of a historic and renowned Maison like Jacquesson.

The Extra Brut “Cuvée 740 Degorgement Tardif” is made from a selection of the finest grapes sourced exclusively from the Grand and Premier Crus of Avize and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs, and Ay, Dizy, and Hauvillers in the Vallée de la Marne. It is composed primarily of Chardonnay (53%), which enhances its elegant and refined profile, with Pinot Noir (29%) providing structure and depth, and Pinot Meunier (18%) completing the bouquet with its soft and mellow fruity notes. After fermentation, the vins clairs mature for several months in oak barrels before being blended to create the cuvée, with 34% reserve wines from older vintages. The second fermentation in the bottle continues for over eight years before disgorgement.

The Champagne Extra Brut "Cuvée 740 Degorgement Tardif" is a highly prestigious label within the Jacquesson range. The Degorgement Tardif process ensures the wines' exceptionally rich and deep aromas, without sacrificing finesse and freshness. In the glass, it has a golden yellow color with a very fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet expresses floral, citrus, and fruity notes, with exotic and honeyed nuances, against an undercurrent of chalky and iodine notes. The palate is deep and complex, with juicy fruit, elegant, evolving notes, a lively freshness, and a saline finish that leads to a long and persistent finish.

Cellar

Jean Chiquet purchased the Maison Jacquesson, founded in 1798, in 1974, and his two sons, Laurent and Jean-Hervé, now run this prestigious house. Indeed, Jacquesson was Napoleon I's favorite Champagne. Furthermore, it was Adolphe Jacquesson who invented the metal muselet and the small metal plate placed on top to prevent the muselet from sinking into the cork.
Laurent and Jean-Hervé Chiquet also manage their 28 hectares of vineyards located in the Grand Cru villages of Aÿ, Oiry, and Avize, and the Premier Cru villages of Dizy and Hautvillers. Their vineyard supplies are also supplemented by purchases from Grand Crus and Premier Crus. Jacquesson champagnes are therefore exclusively Premier and/or Grand Crus Champagnes, a testament to this House's commitment to maintaining the highest quality.
