The French Gin.
Dunkirk was, at that time, one of the first European ports on the return route for the carriers of trading companies returning from the East laden with spices. At that time, in the Citadel, the fortress built to protect Dunkirk, distillers had the idea of infusing these spices with alcohol and then distilling them. Thus, French gin was born. Citadelle Gin is made according to the principles of this authentic recipe. Production methods have improved over time, but it still contains the original spices used at the time.
Citadelle gin is currently the only gin in the world made with 19 different spices. These spices give Citadelle its unique, complex, and well-balanced flavor. Its recipe is a manufacturing secret held by the master distiller.
Artisanal
By leveraging the centuries-old expertise of the finest French spirits producers, we have carefully recreated the subtle, elegant flavor of authentic Citadelle Gin. First, the finest grain is harvested. It is then treated with extremely pure spring water until fermentation takes place. After triple distillation, the alcohol is exceptionally smooth and perfectly pure. The spices are harvested at full maturity in the very same countries where explorers sought them three centuries ago. They are then carefully sun-dried. Carefully selected and measured, they are immersed in neutral alcohol, protected by a special bag. This infusion is still distilled, allowing each aroma to be clearly captured. The complex flavors can thus develop independently. This method preserves all the freshness of the spices and contributes to the aromatic richness of Citadelle Gin.
Citadelle Gin offers a delicate nose, scented with juniper and citrus. Elegant, rounded, and smooth on the palate.
It lets the subtle complexity of its aromas express themselves in the finish.
