Description

"Blanc des Millénaires": this exceptional cuvée takes its name from its aging conditions. Acquired over 150 years ago by the founder, the House's thousand-year-old crayères (grape quarries) play a central role in the creation of this cuvée, like time, the House's fourth grape variety.
In 1993, Charles Heidsieck presented the Blanc des Millénaires for the first time in its prestigious 1983 vintage. It was at the time the affirmation of a know-how in the production of Blanc de Blancs (the oldest being from 1949), and the desire to affirm a style.
Since then, the Maison has revealed that only five vintages have seen the light of day: 1985, 1990, 1995, 2004.
This year, the Maison reveals the 2006 vintage.
Blancs des Millénaires are Blanc de Blancs produced from the finest Chardonnays, deeply rooted in the unique terroir of the Côte des Blancs. It owes its name to the distinctive characteristic of being produced with over 95% Chardonnay grapes.
It is a precious gem of an area, its vineyards give life to elegant wines with superb finesse and vivacity.
Only five of the main crus of the Côte des Blancs, including four Grands Crus and one Premier Cru, are carefully selected for their ability to develop and fully express their richness once matured.
The terroir of Oger for its finesse and smoothness, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for its structure, Avize for its minerality, Cramant for its complexity and Vertus for its vivacity and floral notes.
