Dom Benedictine is based on brandy and neutral spirits flavored with 56 different herbs and spices, including hyssop, lemon balm, juniper berries, angelica seeds, aloe, apricot, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, myrrh, black tea, coriander, cardamom, thyme, maidenhair fern, vanilla, lemon peel, and honey. These botanicals, which are sun-dried to preserve as much of their flavor as possible, are used in four distinct preparations, using three distillations and a maceration of lemon peel and vanilla in neutral alcohol for six months.
