Description

Upon arrival at the winery, the carefully selected grapes were destemmed and gently pressed, then transferred to stainless steel tanks. Here, alcoholic fermentation took place at a temperature of approximately 25°C, enhancing the varietal's characteristic aromatic characteristics and maintaining greater fruit integrity. During maceration, which lasted approximately 15 days, the pomace cap was carefully moistened to extract only the finest tannins. The wine was then transferred to stainless steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation took place, completing by the end of the year.
Botrosecco rested for 9 months in barrique before being refined in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Botrosecco is ruby red in color. The nose is rich with notes of ripe fruit, such as blueberries and blackberries, well-integrated with delicate hints of tobacco and white pepper. On the palate, it is savory and persistent, with enveloping tannins and a pleasant aftertaste of fresh fruit and cherry chocolate.

Cellar

Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, just a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinary and fascinating location both for its natural beauty and the history of the surrounding area. The Antinori family has always been present in these lands. In 1863, a property deed listed Poggio Franco, one of the estate's most suitable vineyards, among its holdings, along with other parcels of land. Since 1999, the family has worked on both the vineyards and the new winery, convinced that this area, still emerging in the Italian winemaking scene, is highly suited to the production of quality wines and that the characteristics of the terroir and the varietals grown here can best express themselves. The estate extends across 270 hectares, 170 of which are planted with vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, in addition to more recent plantings of white grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, and Viognier, and a small portion of Carménère. The soil, of medium texture, sandy and silty, has a predominantly siliceous-clayey composition and is, in some areas, rich in skeleton.
