Description

From a denomination boasting nearly a century of history, a wine with soft, velvety tannins and great freshness, deeply tied to its production area.
Upon arrival at the winery, the harvested grapes underwent different vinification processes: some underwent maceration for 7-8 days, with maximum temperatures of 25°C, to enhance the extraction of soft tannins and maintain the grape's fruity aromas. The other, more substantial, batch underwent a longer maceration of 10-12 days, at temperatures of 30°C and gentle watering, to enhance the flavor intensity. After malolactic fermentation, which took place in November, the wine aged in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting notes

Chianti Superiore Santa Cristina is ruby red in color with purple highlights. The nose is rich, with fruity notes of morello cherry, aromatic herbs, and balsamic sensations. On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a long, savory finish.

Cellar

Atop a high Tuscan hill, not far from Siena and Perugia, lies the ancient town of Cortona. On one side, the spacious plain; on the other, the hill and the village. This is the view from the Santa Cristina winery, founded in 2006 to confirm and renew the tradition of its namesake wine, over 70 years after its first vintage. Over time, Santa Cristina has become a point of reference for industry experts and beyond, thanks to an unwavering commitment to quality. Just like a good story, it is a timeless Tuscan classic with a contemporary twist. The constant care taken in tending the vineyards and working in the cellar has been the driving force behind continuous innovation and the exploration of native and international varieties, resulting in wines that are distinct yet distinguished by the same artisanal style, the fruit of an unbreakable bond between vineyard, terroir, and human labor.

The Santa Cristina Winery, designed by the Florence-based Hydea studio, features a modern architectural structure conceived with minimal environmental impact and respect for the surrounding landscape. The winery takes its name from the Santa Cristina red wine, a historic wine that has been the company's flagship for over 70 years. The structure is designed to accompany the grapes from the vineyard through the individual stages of fermentation, aging, bottling, and packaging. Advanced technology, combined with a careful and continuous pursuit of quality, strengthen and fortify the ancient tradition and love for the land.
