Description

Born from a blend of the finest Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a small amount of Carménère grapes, this wine is crafted from the unique terroir of the Poggio alle Nane vineyards, one of the winery's most suitable areas, capable of producing grapes of extraordinary quality. A wine with great aromatic complexity and an elegant, dense tannic structure.

Tasting notes

Poggio alle Nane displays an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals notes of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant, and plum, accompanied by spicy and balsamic hints of licorice, coffee, and sweet paprika. Delicate aromas of Mediterranean herbs and lavender complete the bouquet. The palate is rich and enveloping, with elegant tannins. The finish is persistent and harmonious, with nuances of tobacco and blueberry chocolate.

Cellar

Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, just a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinary and fascinating location both for its natural beauty and the history of the surrounding area. The Antinori family has always been present in these lands. In 1863, a property deed listed Poggio Franco, one of the estate's most suitable vineyards, among its holdings, along with other parcels of land. Since 1999, the family has worked on both the vineyards and the new winery, convinced that this area, still emerging in the Italian winemaking scene, is highly suited to the production of quality wines and that the characteristics of the terroir and the varietals grown here can best express themselves. The estate extends across 270 hectares, 170 of which are planted with vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, in addition to more recent plantings of white grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ansonica, and Viognier, and a small portion of Carménère. The soil, of medium texture, sandy and silty, has a predominantly siliceous-clayey composition and is, in certain areas, rich in skeleton.
