Description

Frescobaldi's Morellino di Scansano Santa Maria is made from Sangiovese (85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) grapes on pebbly sandstone soils, at an average altitude of 100 meters above sea level. This agile and versatile red wine was aged for 10 months in stainless steel tanks and another 2 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby red, clear and luminous. Its bouquet accurately reflects its terroir. The intense fruity notes of blackcurrant and blueberry are well balanced by the citrusy notes of bergamot and Mediterranean herbs and spices, such as pepper and cardamom. The finish offers a fresh note of licorice. On the palate, the tannins are balanced by a lovely freshness and a warm softness.

Cellar

Frescobaldi interprets Tuscan diversity.
We want our family estates, with their vineyards, to be an expression of this diversity, and for our wines to reflect each individual terroir, respecting its nature and authenticity.
Diversity also promises pure flavors, from wines to olive oils to the dishes cooked in our restaurants.
Diversity was finally cultivated in the Renaissance of the arts and men: with the patronage of the “Artists for Frescobaldi” project and the social responsibility of rehabilitating the prisoners of the island of Gorgona.
Frescobaldi embodies the essence of Tuscany, its extraordinary vocation for viticulture, and the diversity of its terroirs.
Frescobaldi's uniqueness stems precisely from the representation of this diversity through its estates and wines that express a kaleidoscope of aromas and sensations.
Behind every Frescobaldi wine lies the heart of the people: agronomists and winemakers who live the vineyard and the terroir, capturing every detail. Their art demands the iron rule of respect. Respect for our tradition, which guides us even when we choose innovative solutions. Respect for Tuscany, which we consider a living land, to be cultivated in balance and harmony. Respect for each individual terroir, which, thanks to a unique combination of soils, altitudes, and microclimates, gives us wines with their own unique personality.
