Description

It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barrique, the first modern red wine blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.

Tasting notes

A deep ruby red with purple highlights, Tignanello 2022 strikes the nose with notes of cherry, ripe black cherry, and pomegranate seeds. These, combined with delicate hints of violet, lead to fresh balsamic sensations. Elegant hints of vanilla and cotton candy complete the bouquet. On the palate, sweet and savory tannins lend dynamism, alternating density and freshness that culminate in a long finish, echoing the notes perceived on the nose.

Cellar

Tenuta Tignanello is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the rolling hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys. It extends over 319 hectares, with approximately 130 hectares of vineyards. Among its vineyards are two treasures: the Tignanello vineyard and the Solaia vineyard, which extend across the same hillside on soils derived from Pliocene marine marl with limestone and schist, and enjoy warm days and cool nights during the growing season. From these eponymous vineyards, Solaia and Tignanello are produced, which have been described by the international press as "among the most influential wines in the history of Italian winemaking." According to Marchesi Antinori, they represent a constant challenge and a never-ending passion. Tenuta Tignanello's vineyards are composed primarily of the native Sangiovese grape, along with non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
