Description

This is the company's signature wine, first produced in 1980. It was born from the intuition of producing, from Vermentino grapes—Capichera's most beloved—a wine capable of competing with the great international whites. The finest bunches of these grapes, grown in its chosen terroir, are transformed into a unique and distinctive wine, elegant and with a strong personality. The name Capichera, from the Latin caput erat, "it was the capital," is the ancient name of the family estate.

Tasting notes

Rich and complex on the nose with wildflowers, hawthorn, wisteria, rosemary, thyme, lavender, pineapple and flint.
Dry, lively, full and enveloping on the palate, the finish is long and persistent with rich mineral flavour and elegant fullness.

Cellar

Capichera is an Italian winery located in a corner of Sardinia, nestled among the granite rocks of Gallura, in Arzachena, in a unique and captivating natural setting steeped in important and ancient traditions. A family-run winery that, following a brilliant intuition in the late 1970s, brought about a significant transformation in winemaking beyond Sardinia: it was the first winery to successfully promote the barrique aging of pure Vermentino, offering a model based on the highest quality production and ongoing research through viticulture that respects and rigorously respects the terroir, allowing this grape variety to reveal its remarkable characteristics and unique features. Many authoritative wine critics still maintain that Capichera's history is the history of quality Vermentino. Passion, significant investment, and improved production methods over the years have established new and high quality standards, with priority given to each vineyard and individual plot, enhancing its unique characteristics. This development process has led over time to achieving innovative and exclusive results not only for Vermentino but also for Carignano and Syrah, giving rise to high-profile reds, strongly identifying with the Gallura region and united by the same production philosophy.
