Description

Only the finest grapes are used for this wine. The different varietals are vinified separately and then expertly blended to maximize their richness and identity. Bianco di Decugnano is a wine of refined elegance, balanced, and mineral. It epitomizes the extraordinary vocation of the terroir.

Tasting notes

A bright and deep golden yellow, it captivates the nose with notes of exotic fruit, lavender, elderberry, and chalk. On the palate, it is enveloping, rich, smooth, and minerally at the same time. It finishes slowly, with hints of butter.

Cellar

“I created Decugnano dei Barbi in 1973 with the aim of producing wines of the highest quality that respect a unique and precious terroir.”

We believe in respecting nature and the land, in the pursuit of excellence, in attention to detail, and in continuous experimentation.

But above all, we love producing elegant, incredibly enjoyable wines with a strong identity that are appreciated by refined customers all over the world.

The origin of the name Decugnano is obscure and lost in the centuries, but as early as 1212, these lands were producing wine for the clergy of Orvieto. They were the lands of the church of Santa Maria di Decugnano.

In 1973, Claudio Barbi found Decugnano abandoned and immediately fell in love with it. The first wines were released in 1978, and success was immediate.

Decugnano dei Barbi produced the first Umbrian classic method (1978 vintage) and the first Italian noble rot (1981 vintage).

We do not use insecticides, botrytis, weed killers or chemical fertilizers.

Vineyard treatments are kept to a minimum, through obsessive attention to climate trends and the health of the vines.
