Description

Jasci & Marchesani's Rudhir is a highly expressive Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, grown on the hills overlooking the sea near Vasto, Abruzzo. The fruit of rigorous and passionate organic viticulture, this wine expresses the deepest soul of Montepulciano, with an intense, complex, and refined character.

Tasting notes

It displays a deep, almost impenetrable ruby red color with garnet highlights that hint at its maturity and evolution. On the nose, it is an explosion of aromas: ripe red fruits, black cherries preserved in alcohol, sweet spices, dark chocolate, and subtle toasted notes, resulting from long and expert aging in oak barrels and barriques.
On the palate, it is structured, warm, and enveloping, with present yet velvety tannins perfectly integrated into a balanced and persistent flavor profile. The long maturation—18 months in wood and at least 2 years in bottle—provides a deep, nuanced palate with the potential to evolve for several more years.

Cellar

Jasci & Marchesani have been dedicated to organic winemaking since 1960, even anticipating the very concept of sustainable practices. They achieved official certification in 1978, becoming one of the first Italian wineries to do so. Currently, the company's vineyards span 33 hectares, owned by the company, and another 7 hectares, shared-cropped. The oldest vineyard dates back to 1973, allowing them to grow all the grapes themselves, then vinified in the winery, which operates with renewable energy. Each vineyard produces a different product; those cultivated in the Sinello Valley produce saline and savory white wines, while the clayey soil of the hills of the central Vasto area, thanks to its exposure and temperature range, produces a unique and sought-after Montepulciano, such as Janù.
