Talamonti "Modà" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a wine that elegantly and contemporaryly embodies the soul of Abruzzo winemaking. It originates from the hills of Loreto Aprutino, one of the region's most renowned terroirs, where the moderate altitude, breezes from the Adriatic, and the constant presence of the Majella and Gran Sasso mountains create an ideal microclimate for growing Montepulciano. The Talamonti family's vineyards extend across clay-limestone soils, ensuring good structure, aromatic concentration, and a natural balance between freshness and fruit ripeness.
The Talamonti winery, despite its relatively young nature, has always applied a production philosophy focused on sustainability and respect for the land: gentle cultivation, soil management through selected grassing, and an approach that emphasizes the natural expressiveness of the grape variety. The Montepulciano grapes are hand-harvested in mid-October, when they reach full phenolic ripeness. Once they arrive at the cellar, they undergo destemming and soft pressing, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks for approximately ten days, preserving the integrity of the fruity bouquet.
After fermentation, the wine ages for approximately six months in large French oak barrels. This process imparts roundness and finesse, imbuing the wine with subtle spicy and vanilla notes that enhance the varietal character without ever overpowering it. Further bottle aging follows, allowing the Modà to achieve its final harmony.
