Whiskey Wilson & Morgan Dailuaine 2011 Sherry Finish Oloroso Cl 70 Case

A typical Speyside single malt with a full body
medium, but still floral and delicate
fruity, which has received a short 14-month finish
in first-fill barrels of a traditional
Spanish bodega, and which had been used for
age Oloroso sherry for 60 years. It is a
lively whisky, full of citrus and fruity notes
nose: sherry does not necessarily translate to
a vinous character, but amplifies oranges, pears and
apples at most. The citrus touch and slightly
acidulous is accompanied on the palate by a dose
generous with raisins and chestnut honey, which results
in an excellent balance between dryness and a softer side
sweet and creamy. Here too it is only moderately
vinous, but soon turns decidedly towards notes
toasted and tannic. The peppery and astringent intensity
it gets stronger and stronger in the finale.
